Today is all about looking around your house to see what can be done to make it more energy efficient. Here are some tips:
1) Install a new weather strip on you garage door - this $25 fix can save you a ton of money on your energy bill.
2) Fenestration...what the heck? In plain english it's energy efficient windows and doors. Take a few minutes to see what the cost would be to replace old window and doors with new ones that are more insulated. Many companies will help you with financing and/or installation programs. Additionally, most energy providers will pay you to make these updates.
3) Check out your Attic. I know you just think of your attic as a place to store stuff but it's time to think of it as a place to put a whole lot of insulation! By updating and increasing the amount of insulation in your attic you will dramatically increase the amount heat that stays in your house this winter.
So, take a quick look around your home and see what little steps you can take to weatherize it. It could save you a few bucks and it will certainly help save our planet.
